I wish I had had space to mention the "Amelia Bedelia" children's books. It's possible another factor in the success of Amelia in the USA is parents who read them as children bestowing the name on their own kids.

Interesting! Didn’t know about the various TV characters named Amelia. In Italian it’s the name given to the Disney character Magica de Spell, which might have lowered its popularity?
