My column on Eileen
Here is the link to today's column:https://omaha.com/life-entertainment/local/cleveland-evans-irish-love-songs-popularized-eileen/article_38f92f9e-983b-11ee-ac19-bb769e3f95d0.htmlI hadn't realized Eileen had started rising again before doing the research for this column. I wonder if this means other -een or -ene names will also be rising soon.

Dexy's Midnight Runners could warm me up to just about any name! A friend comes from a family with a tradition of giving children a name beginnign with A-, and her mother's name is Aileen. I assumed it was AYleen, but no, it only looks like that; it sounds like IEleen. No doubt they ran out of A names.

I was surprised the first time I came across Aileen pronounced as Eileen. In Ireland Aileen is always Ay-Leen.
