She's probably right, though I can't find much info about it. Jacquina is the name of a poisonous shrub native to America. So it's reasonable to assume the name is from an American-Indian language.

'Poisonous shrub' is just a botanist's viewpoint of course, the 'Indians' like to make necklaces from the bright orange flowers. They also eat the nuts, but they make you dizzy.
