I have the same situation. My Father in law, married a Shelva Jean . I learned from Shelva that she was also named after a singer approximately 50 years ago. She too is searching out this singer' last name and information. Cool name though, has a classic sound and yet southern appeal as well. I hope that you find the origin of the name.
