Franja / Frania
Hi!I found this name in a name book but wasn't able to find a confirmation anywhere else:Franja: Polish variant form of Francisca. Often spelled Frania.Does anybody know if that's true? Any other ideas? Could it be a Croatian female form of Franjo? Thank you!/ Satuhttp://www.nordicnames.de/

It's never spelled Franja. It's always spelled Frania.
It's not a variant of Franciszka - it's its pet form.:) That's 100% accurate.

No problem. And as a tid bit a "Frania" is an old type of washing machine. So that's what the name is connotated with."The National Museum in Poznañ is currently exhibiting unique, formerly everyday household objects such as the Pionier radio (exclusive and regular versions), the Szarotka radio, a scooter, Mikrus and Syrena automobiles, a Wis³a TV set and the Frania washing machine, an item that has near-cult status in Poland. These objects display life in Poznañ the way it was 50 years ago. The exhibition also contains photographs, posters, paintings, graphic works, documents, clothes and other domestic objects."http://www.warsawvoice.pl/view/11939
