Another site lists it as Hindi/Indian and means "king." 2 other sites list it only as Hindu with the same meaning as "king."

The root nR/nara is Indoeuropean and, in Sanskrit, means male or mankind in general. The root Ish means to possess, and Isha is lord or master. naresha, the combination (the last -a is not sounded in many modern Indian languages), lord of men, and is a common title used by kings.
