This is what I know:
Dejan is a Slavic name [that spelling is used in the countries of former Yugoslavia] derived from the archaic verb deja - to do something. It can be loosely translated as the active/energetic one.

That explanation doesn't quite make sense to me, but I wouldn't dismiss it as totally off-mark
