"valon" as a word means "to seethe" in Albanian:

Many Albanian names are common Albanian words at the same time - or vica-versa, depending on the viewpoint - but I cannot say whether this is the case here as well i.e whether the common Albanian word "valon" is identical with the name.
I somehow doubt it.

Just found 2 other possibilities: There is a city named Valone in Albania (better known as Vlorë). And a number of other similar Albanian names derive from the common word 'valë' (wave).
