Re: Cool bit of car-name trivia, Zara! n/t
Actually Shelby did more then just the Mustang. There are many types of cars that have the shelby engine and shelby performance added to them! Mustangs are the most popular of the shelbys but he did get around! Even Dodge Shadows got the Shelby performance added to there line in 1988 and I think 1989. Omni's got the Shelby performance and I know there are more but I cant think of them all! So Shelby is a strong name when it comes to Cars!! And how you couldnt remember which one shelby did mustang or corvette seems kind of sad since Corvettes are way above mustangs! Mustangs now a days are just poor excusses for there successors in the 60's and 70's. Though you cant find many sports cars now that can add up to there original versions so I guess it doesnt matter on that point! V-8's in sports cars are just a memory to most!Yes it is sad that a girl knows this much about cars!!
Also I am kind of patinate when it comes to cars! And if you didnt NOTICE i AM A CHEVY GIRL!! :)

Gia , Gia...where were you when I was young and single and lookin for a girl who really dug cars? (I ultimately fell for one who drove a purple Gremlin...love is blind!)Yer spot-on about Carroll Shelby and his many contributions to speed and handling. But let's not forget his piece de resistance: the COBRA!In the early 60s, the man took the nondescript Brit AC roadster and dropped a Ford V-8 into it, followed by bigger Ford V-8s. The Cobra dominated everything else on the road (and some famous tracks) for decades, and is still being built today in Britain under license. Only the Dodge Viper (and the very latest super-Vette) come close to the power and spirit of Shelby 's beast!I've owned more Fords than Chevys; however, today's Mustang GT is no road match for the Camaro Z-28. But PLEASE don't lump the Mustangs of the 70's in with the good machines they were in the 60's! Only the 70-71 and 79 Mustangs wwere worthy of the name; the early 70s were dominated by heavy, hideous blimps, and most of the 70s were devoted to the Pinto-based Mustang II ("Mustang II, Boredom Zero!" the jingle went -- puke!!)Anyway, I'm impressed by yer knowledge, and it's nice to find a topic on here that even GUYS can get into!
