Re: The meaning of the name Redvers
I'm English, but I've never heard of the name Redvers. I will try to look it up for you.

If you put the name into a search engine, you get quite a response. Redvers seems to be a surname as well. There was a General Sir Redvers Buller, who died in 1908 who I think had something to do with the Boer War. The year that he died gives clues as to when the name was being given at Christenings. My Father was born in 1900, so this would put him into that sort of time period. Unfortunately he died in 1984 so he cannot provide any clues. He had children late in life (I am 37) so I never met my Grandparents on his side fot them to explain where they got the idea to give that particular name. It is concievable he was named after the aforementiond General.
Thanks for replying. Looking forward to your reply telling me all about Redvers!!!
