My first name is Gilroy and I have never heard of anybody else with this name. Are there any more of us out there?

I'm betting you already knew what your name meant.
And while I've never met a "Gilroy" myself, I can say with some confidence that many who might have been named "Gilroy" were instead named "Leroy" or "Elroy." These sorta-French names are known to have been swelled by both Irish & Scottish "Gilroys."
