A few years later, things began to get rocky. One of the strongest supervillains in New Jorvik was killed by a vigilante in an act of revenge, and the resulting power vacuum caused great instability in the city. More and more villains and their gangs tried to grasp control of the previously monopolised underworld. This keeps the heroes busier than ever, even - or perhaps especially - Mal in his faux-villain façade. With the confusion of the suddenly much more unforgiving chaos, Paradox has focused on maintaining his turf more than on expanding it.
Through these times, Eira was carrying another child, which agitated Mal incredibly. He tried to convince her to take their children and evacuate the city until things get stabler, but Eira refused point-blank. But her two best friends from her heroing days, Glacia and Blackhawk, convinced her that while she may want to stay in the city she's protected for years, it wasn't safe for her children, and that Evey, Stephen, and Grace are in danger every day they spent in New Jorvik. Finally, although heartbroken over the decision and greatly reluctant, Eira conceded. She took the children, had them spend a whole day with Mal for goodbyes, and they left to her parents' house in a small town two hours' drive away.
It was there that Eira gave birth to their second son. The memory of lying in her old bedroom, with her husband on the speakerphone hearing the newborn crying for fhe first time, is not somethkng she would ever forget. The boy was named William Patrick, Liam for short, in honour of Blackhawk.
