Year One
Marta finally lands her first television gig as a recurring character as Sonny Corinthos’ long-lost sister Gianna on General Hospital! It does require her to fly out to LA to shoot those scenes, but since she's just a recurring character, it doesn't put too much of a strain on her time with Micah.
Year Two
As both Micah and Marta grew up surrounded by animals, it was only a matter of time before they went out and adopted their own! They adopted a cat from the nearby animal shelter and gave him the name Mycroft.
Year Three
Everyone loves a wedding! Marta was so excited to be the Matron of Honor in her sister’s wedding. Amada was the most beautiful bride, and everyone was excited to welcome Pancho Lopez to the family.
Year Four
After spending a couple years trying to have a child, Micah and Marta decided that adoption was probably the best option for them. They adopted a little, five-year-old girl from South Korea, Myung Ji. They allowed Myung to pick her own “American” name, and, as a huge Princess Sophia fan, she chose the name Sophia for herself.

Year Five
Victory! Micah finally paid off all his student-loan debt. It was such a relief for Micah, and the family now looks forward to having those extra couple-hundred dollars a month to spend on more practical purchases.
Year Six
After a year of begging, Marta and Micah finally caved and allowed Sophia to start horseback-riding lessons. They allowed Sophia to pick out her own pony (with their help of course), and Sophia named her Rapunzel. They keep Rapunzel at a stable about an hour away from their apartment and Sophia takes lessons twice a week.
Year Seven
Micah was asked to go down to DC along with a few other reputable news anchors to discuss the upcoming election with some White House officials.
Year Eight
After a few years of being pestered, Micah sat down to write a book regarding the role politics have in the newsroom. Although the book was extremely well-received, it did stir up a lot of controversy in DC as well as newsrooms all over the country.
Year Nine
Sophia finally was able to convince her parents that it was time to add another cat to the family! They went down to the local shelter and picked out a kitten, who they named Sadie. Everyone is loving the adorable kitten…well, except Mycroft.
Year Ten
After years of never thinking they’d be able to conceive, Marta found herself pregnant. They gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, Calvin Lucas.

Year Eleven
Another baby?! Micah and Marta could hardly believe their eyes when the strip turned pink. Completely overjoyed, they welcomed home Lisabeth Grace.

Year Twelve
Hurricane Julia proved to be a more deadly force than anyone was predicting. Wanting to be extra cautious, the Bates family traveled to Chicago to visit Micah’s brother, Patrick. It ended up being a much-needed visit as the children got to bond with their cousins. As bad as Hurricane Julia was, fortunately, there was no damage to their apartment when they returned home.
Year Thirteen
Micah experienced an extremely rough year when his father suddenly passed away from a heart attack. Taking a break from work, Micah decided to focus on caring for his depression. The only bright spot was that his father had left him a large amount of money that he and Marta could use to put in the children’s college fund.
Year Fourteen
After seeing his sister at her riding competition, Cal became obsessed with the idea of getting his own horsey. Although both Micah and Marta thought he was probably too young, they couldn’t help themselves and allowed Cal to take up riding lessons as well. Cal got his own pony, Rascal.
Year Fifteen
Even though she’s now been working fulltime on General Hospital as Gianna, Marta got a role in an upcoming movie starring Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper (it’s their 10th movie together!). While it’s only a minor role, Marta is having trouble balancing these two jobs.
Year Sixteen
So the truth finally comes out. Micah was always curious as to how Marta ended up getting pregnant after 10 years of trying. Miracles always happen, but it became so hard to ignore Cal’s blond hair and Lisabeth’s blue eyes. Devastated, Micah leaves Marta and they spend the year in the agony of divorce.
Year Seventeen
This year brought about so many new changes for the Bates. Still struggling with the loss of his dad and his divorce, Micah moved out to Chicago to be with his brother. Sophia also headed off to college this year and decided to go as far away as she could to escape all of the family drama she’d be experiencing. She was accepted to Tulane University in New Orleans. Marta also decided a move was needed. After years of traveling back and forth from LA to New York for her role, Marta decided to permanently relocate to California. She found new stables for Rapunzel and Rascal, and Cal and Lisabeth are getting used to their new school.
Year Eighteen
Marta received a Daytime Emmy Award for her work on General Hospital. After struggling with her own depression the past couple of years, it meant a lot to her to be appreciated for her work.
