Pal and Rajni were married two months ago. They met six years ago in college, where Pal studied economics and Rajni studied early childhood education. After college, Pal moved to California, where he opened an authentic Hawaiian restaurant to indulge his love of cooking. After college, Rajni, an international student, returned to India. Though they dated in college, Pal and Rajni split up before the start of their senior year. Just a few months after graduation, they rekindled their relationship, long distance. Eighteen months later, they secured a visa for Rajni to come to the United States so that she and Pal could get married. The two of them live in a one bedroom apartment--since most of Pal's income has gone into improvements for his restaurant and Rajni's new job as a preschool teacher hasn't started yet.

Pal isn't too fond of the bird; however, he is happy to see the joy he brings Rajni.

Fortunately, Kalidas isn't interested in trying to eat the rats, and they don't seem to be bothered by his presence at all.

This year has been a big one for the Wassers. Pal's restaurant opened its second location with much fanfare! Rajni spent the year learning how to be a mother to Amy, who she and Pal adore. Amy is now an energetic toddler. She was joined this year by six month old Alli, from the Philippines. Pal and Rajni have always wanted to adopt children, and they applied to several international agencies two years into their marriage. They were contacted about a three month old little girl from the Philippines earlier in the year. The process went a lot faster than expected, and the Wassers brought Alli home when she was six months old. Also this year, both Silas and Sullivan passed away. Kalidas is still around, chirping up a storm and making Amy laugh with his songs.

Although a lot of his savings went into the second restaurant, Pal's gamble paid off this year with a large pay raise! Amy and Alli both entered school this year, and they are both doing well. They continue to be inseparable. Adie, now 2, is their frequent tagalong. She loves playing with the dog and helping Rajni with the housework.
