As far as I know, and please correct me if I'm wrong, in Germany Micha is a male short form of Michael. And it's pronounced like Michael, without the -el part at the end.

I found this site where you can listen to the pronunciation of Michael. It's about 2/3 down.

Micha is the German form of the biblical name rendered in English as Micah.

Usually, a German Micha's real name is indeed Michael. There may be exceptions though.

My mistake then :). The few Germans I have met with this name, used it as a short form for Michael.
