Re: MAITE
in reply to a message by Nancy
My name is "maite" (pronounced may-yet-tay)and I find it somewhat coolly ironic that in spanish 'maite' means "incarnation", when I was named for the egyptian goddess "Mayet/Ma'at". When she sat in judgment of Men's souls after death, her name was "Ma'ati" (pronounced may-yet-tay); in the Coptic language, ma'ati means "double truth", as in divine or severe truth.I wonder if there is a connection; I wonder if "maite" came to mean "incarnation" because those named "Maite" would incarnate the attributes of the goddess. She was the goddess of truth, justice and universal order.Thank you for the information!
