The name "Aloisia" also appears in the forms of "Aloysia" and is a feminine form of the Latin "Aloysius", via the Old High German "Louis", meaning "famous warrior".France made "Aloyce", or "Heloise" out of this name, and this was made one of the great "romance" names by the 11th century French abbess Heloise, who wrote the love letters to Abelard. As "Aloysia", the name honored saints and kings, and the lemon verbena, named the "aloysia" in honor of the Spanish Queen Maria Louisa Theresa, made of it a "plant" name.-- Nanaea
