For my writing class our teacher is asking us to find out the meaning or the background information about my first name George. Now my family is Irish but we dont pratice cultural traditions so much. Iam name after my father, who is name after his father and iam not to sure about why my grandfather was named George in the first place. I did trace the meaning of George to Greek origin meaning tiller of soil or farmer. I wonder if there might be any more to the meaning. I know different parts of Greek words have their own meaning within a word. any information regarding my name George would be appreciated.
