South Pacific, anyone?
I've been puzzled throughout the rugby season about a brilliant winger who now represents New Zealand but started life Fijian, I think. Excellent player; his surname is Rokocoko, and the c in the middle is pronounced th: Rokothoko.Any ideas, factual preferably, about how this came about? Was there a Spanish colonising or missionary presence on Fiji? Or, am I perhaps mishearing the NZ commentators, all explayers with, presumably, missing teeth? And, while we're there and on the topic: in the previous batch of top All Blacks there was Zinzan Brooke, whose brother Robin could not have had a name less like the strange and tangy Zinzan if he'd practised for a decade. One explanation is that it was their dear old granny's surname - but where Grandma got it from is unclear to me as well. Any ideas, anyone?

Just a quick bit of info on Zinzan Brooke. In actual fact Zinzan is his middle name. His real name is Murray Zinzan Brooke.

just saying Rokothoko is the best of the best. Fijians were always fast and tuff as. just like in the hong kong 7s fijians ruled... they over came many rugby teams, but they were just to convident and not focus so they lost... but still rubgy stars like rokothoko in any team fijians not fijian/idians fijians are the best players...see if you watch the all blacks when rokothoko gets a chance at the ball, he runs up... and he doesnt get tackle on the first person neverthe first person..thanks for reading cheers bro

Yeah, he is great, isn't he? Pity about Toutai ... but the All Blacks should take the World Cup without too much bother (she says through clenched teeth). Cheers, mate.
