Does Hernán work on its own?

Hernán is listed in the database as a short form of Hernando, but could it work on its own as a MN? I like it a little more than Hernando, and it's one of the few Spanish names that flows really well with other Spanish names. Would it bother you that it's technically a short form, or do its good qualities outweigh that?

As a middle name, it wouldn't bother me at all.

I think it's fine on its own. Given how uncommon Hernando is, I bet Hernán will barely register as a short form with most people.
