Does anyone have any information on the name Donya. I have been told it is Russian background, but I can not find any proof or any information on the name at all. Any information at all would be great. Thank you.

First of all: Is DONYA a male name or female?
Female: Maybe a short form of ADONIA > Adonis?
Male: Maybe a short form of ADONIA, in English bibles usually know as ADONIJAH.

It *looks* like a legitimate Russian nickname. I'd say it is a feminine form of Andon (like Tonya is a pet form of Antonia), but that is, at best, an educated guess.

Could DONYA be the same as DUNYA?

If it is, just click your way from DUNYA to the meaning. In addition to what this site says, the word "eudokia" means "grace, mercy". This makes a lot of sense with a Christian name. The word is first used in the Septuagint and there usually means "grace". It often takes the place of the Hebrew word "ratson".
