What is the (simple) meaning of Susan ?

The modern meaning may be "rose," however, according to my bible program, Susan (is a short form of Susanna which is a form of the Greek Sousanna) is derived from Shoshannah which itself is derived from the Hebrew word, "shoshan" which means lily from its whiteness.

Lily...Or possibly "rose", but that may be based on a mistranslation.
