what does this name mean?

i beleive this name is french, it is female and it just sounds so beautiful and elegant. what does it mean?

Dim sumThe word satin is ultimately derived from the province of Tsinkiang (Quanzhou), China (Silk trade originated in China).

SatineSatin is a silk and Satine is only the French form.
Like Charm and Charme.
I love the name; it's the name of a cat that stays at my husband's work. I call her Silky. I think it's cute.-Seda*

Satine is not the French form... We use the word 'satin' too... :)

Satine seems to be a feminization of the French word 'satin', meaning 'satin', the fabric. It is not used in France, but Emile Zola has made up the name Satin for a young prostitute in his book 'Nana', so it looks like Satin & Satine have 'bad reputation' connotations! :)I hope it helps!

As far as I know, Satine just means 'satin', ie the fabric.
