Message: "Rufina" - Behind the Name

Can anyone tell me where the name Rufina comes from? I discovered some time ago that it's my great-great-grandmother's middle name but no one can tell me what it means or where it orginated. I'd appreciate assitance with this.

I guess Rufina is a feminine form of the male name Rufus, which means "red".

I would stay away from it, unless I were an avid Darwinian cause an anagram of Rufina is "unfair"

Thanks a lot stanislassia! I think your suggestion is a very good possibilty. I'm looking for family names for future children so that's why I was hoping to find the info.
