Lovely name to give to a cartoon character or video gamer character, because of its meaning that is. Giving that name to your child might be a little silly in my opinion.

I first heard this name used in Avatar: The Last Airbender, as noted above, since it is the name of Agni Kai, which literally means "fire meeting", as according to this site and Avatar Wiki, Agni means "fire" in Sanskrit and kai means "meeting" in Japanese. This is quite a cool name, a great character name in my opinion.

In English Agni is pronounced similarly to the word "acne". Not that this issue has a bearing on the name when used in other languages. It is simply something to consider given globalization.
