It is such a great name! So pretty!
I saw this on a top 100 name list. I’m not sure how it’s pronounced. My guess would be A Lay a. My personal opinion is it sounds made up and will constantly get mispronounced.
Who would want to be associated with family vloggers? Not me.It was an okay name before it got so common, now it's just a fad-name associated with social media. It also sounds like "a liar" in many many accents. And no, the original pronunciation is not ah-LAY-a (which, by the way, sounds like "a layer" but ah-lie-ah, it's a Basque name and that's what it sounds like originally, you can google it).The meaning is nice, though.
It doesn't sound like a name.
I dislike it. I think it sounds too much like "a liar" with a British accent.
Also not sure how to pronounce it, but I think the meaning is lovely.
I'm not sure how to pronounce this? Assume it is A lay a which I'm not a fan of. Alia is pretty. Alaia really isn't.
Pretty. I love the meaning.
I added this name to our girl list, but ended up disliking it after hearing all of the negative comments from family and friends. I heard "like princess Leia"? We're also told kids will tease her by saying things like "Lay ya". Needless to say, I'm no longer a fan.
Not a fan at all- sounds trashy.
Teasing possibility in English-speaking countries: "A liar."
Alaia is such a beautiful name! I love it. Alaia sounds literally joyful and I think it ought to be used more often. It's a gorgeous and vibrant name. I like names of that sound - like Amaia, Maia, Gaia.
You could pronounce this any way you want and I'd still love it, it's so pretty and because of its many pronunciations it would still sound pretty if people got it wrong, so I don't think anyone could complain if this was their name and it was forever being said wrongly.
