This name is listed as masculine, but it was my great-grandmother’s name. Born in 1911, she was named Alvie May Smith. I’m not sure why her parents chose this name, but it has the ring of many popular names from the early 1900’s (think “Francie” and “Flossie” from “A Tree Grows in Brooklyn.”)Definitely not a name most people would think of as feminine. But I always thought Alvie May was a cute name. It was super cute back in 1911. *laughing emoji* Just an interesting tidbit for the name Alvie. Also, she had siblings named Nora, Dalcie (girls) and Jesse, and Ford Ivey (boys).
