My first name is Arya. I'm a 36 year old Iranian male. Arya is a common Persian male name. I'm not surprised the word exists in other Indo-European languages. I like the name my parents have chosen for me. I think it's among some good names for anyone no matter of gender or ethnicity. [noted -ed]

"Pretty Little Liars" started as a TV series in 2010, when this name was #353, and by 2013 "Aria" was at #40. People keep mentioning "Game of Thrones" in these comments, but I don't think we should discount the impact of "Pretty Little Liars," especially when you consider that the "Game of Thrones" character spells her name A-R-Y-A, a spelling that's currently much further down on the charts.
I knew a boy named Aria.
