It's not Italian and it's not Greek as well, it's an Iranian name, even the country Iran means the land of Arian or Aryan.

"Pretty Little Liars" started as a TV series in 2010, when this name was #353, and by 2013 "Aria" was at #40. People keep mentioning "Game of Thrones" in these comments, but I don't think we should discount the impact of "Pretty Little Liars," especially when you consider that the "Game of Thrones" character spells her name A-R-Y-A, a spelling that's currently much further down on the charts.
