I was named Borghild after my grandmother. It was a fairly common name in the upper midwest in her generation, but not in mine (I was born in the early 60s). My mother wanted to call me "Hildy" but I decided on "Borgi".
Also rarely used in Germany.
Borghild was popular in Norway in the early 1900s. It ranked at #8 in 1895, #6 in 1900, #3 in 1905 (behind Anna and Astrid), #4 in 1910 (behind Anna, Gudrun and Astrid), #10 in 1915, and was off of the charts by 1920.
