I'm a guy named Chase. Idk any other Chases personally, but I was named after Nicole Kidman's character in batman forever and there's a Chaise on my Facebook friends list who is also a woman lol. There is a guy who shares my exact name who was a lawyer involved in some dark money laundering scandal though so that's kinda neat.

I like the name Chase. It sounds modern and strong. It gives me summer vibes. Although I think it could work fine for either gender, I would probably prefer it for a boy. I think Chase Alexander and Chase Destine sound cool. Overall, I think Chase is a great name.

This is a very nice boy's name in my opinion. For girls I would recommend Chelsea.

It's fine, although it does sound a bit like a dog's name. I prefer this for a boy. It doesn't sound feminine enough for a girl. The male-to-female trend is getting ridiculous and it's not "unique" to give a girl a boy's name anymore.

My son has this name and chose it as a middle name (his first name is same as father’s) but it is his primary name. We really liked the sound of it and he has a great grandfather named Charles. In his early years, kids would say “let’s chase Chase”. But, since we are adults much longer than we are children, that was short lived. Now that he is a young man, he still goes by this name and never reverted back to his father’s name. He is very articulate, handsome,and intelligent.

Sometimes I see people naming their girls Chase and it's absolutely ridiculous. It's a boy's name!

Chase is a name that seems to have a constant debate on whether it's a good name or not. I read through every comment posted here and found many cases of name discrimination. Lots of people said the name was a joke. Many more said it was unprofessional or can't be taken seriously. I would simply like to say that name discrimination should stop and, at this rate, name discrimination like this will probably become more of a problem than some other types of discrimination.

This name is too wordy for me and when paired with a middle name it sounds like a command, "Chase William" so because of that I don't like it.

I say this name sounds a lot better on girls. I don't see the masculinity of this name to me it's like Hunter and Jordan spelled Jordan. I really don't like it on boys but I love it on girls.

It's a verb, not a name for crying out loud! If you give a kid this then he'll probably get teased for the rest of his life. Plus, if you pair it with a middle name or last name it sounds like a command, so because of that I strongly dislike it.

My daughter is named Chase and it fits her perfectly. She is smart, strong, beautiful and well-liked. I think it is a name that commands in a positive way for a girl. I also really like it for a boy too. It is also a girl name, I've met a couple females named Chase over the years, so I definitely wouldn't limit it to just males.

I am a girl and my name is Chase. All of my life I have had people comment on it. Personally I love my name. It is different but it is also powerful. I am in my twenties and I am a college student, and at work I have to wear a name tag. At least once every shift I get a compliment on my name. Yes, on paper I am often mistaken for male and when I have gone in for interviews I have had them say " I was expecting a man". I am proud to be named Chase and for all of the people above who think it is bad for a woman's name than you clearly haven't been around many girls with male names. We make them work. It is far better than to have a name no one can pronounce and it's way better than having a common name. My mother gave me a girly middle name just in case I hated my first name. But I love my name. No, I am not manly I am the text book definition of girly but I would never dream of being called anything else. If you are thinking about naming your daughter Chase, go for it.

This name is adorable, on a MALE CHILD. On a girl it sounds ridiculous. Stop trying to turn male names into unisex names. That stopped being original 50 years ago.

To me, the name Chase places a negative assumption on a girl or boy that they are always on the run and have problems focusing. The name also won't age well on a boy and especially not on a girl (I can't imagine anyone past 15 years old named this!)... Iike a past poster said, people named Chase "will always have to prove their credibility." Also, the name is way too masculine for a girl. Maybe I would like Chase more if it was a nickname, but it is too childish to be on its own. Overall, Chase is a very unintelligent and unprofessional name for a human, but it works GREAT for a pet name!

I've known two Chases, one boy and one girl. I've always wondered what this name meant, but I thought it wouldn't actually be related to the English verb "to chase," which I now know it is. A cute name for a girl might be CHASE-HOPE or CHASE-FAITH or anything else one might Chase, like CHASE-FELICITY. An absolutely cruel name for a boy would be CONSTANT CHASE! Hahaha...

To all the people that are saying how it's a "dog's name" a "verb" or "just plain silly on a human", come on, have a little imagination. It's a cool, funky name, for boy or girl, though personally I only know boys named Chase. In fact, one of my best friends is named Chase, and he is definitely an intelligent, mature guy. I can definitely see him being taken seriously when he's older, too. So if you like the name, use it. It's a good one.

"Chase"... It is not a name that grows with the bearer. Parents who have decided upon this name and myself much have horribly different opinions an views as far as how it sounds, means, usage, and the origin. Not only is it truly derived from a surname that was originally a word (and still is), it has been seen as a suitable dog name for how long? Would you name your daughter "Frufru"? "Chase" is a name that has no professionality, no veins that would catch a prospective boss' eye. Chase Smith-- a lawyer? Chase Ferris-- a doctor?

Francesca, might I alert you to the fact that not all men grow up to be lawyers and doctors? Aviators, singers, writers, musicians, actors, baseball players, construction workers, etc. In my firm opinion, a doctor or lawyer could easily be called Chase, and I would take him seriously, because when conducting business, I don't consider one's name to have any influence on his work.

I don't like it for a boy because it is so, so popular but I adore it for a girl. It's so cute, spunky, and slightly different for a girl. I've never personally met a female Chase myself but I know of a little girl named Chaselyn.

This name is pathetic because it's a verb. It's also getting too popular. And it ceases to be cute after age five. It's a little kid's name in my opinion - not very mature-sounding.

My name is Chase and I'm a girl. I know another girl with the same name as well, so it's not that uncommon. I quite like it, though as a kid, the whole "chasing Chase" thing did get really annoying. Also, people have a tendency to misspell my name (I know, weird. People always want to spell it with a c instead of an s), or even give me a new name. "Hi, my name is Chase." "Oh, hello Tracy!" Anyways, if you seriously like the name, use it. It really doesn't matter if it's supposed to be a "boys name".

My 4 year old daughter is named Chase. We chose this name because we really thought we were having a boy & it's a family name on my husband's side. It is his mother's maiden name, my husband's middle name & both my brother in law's middle names. When we found out we were having a girl, I wanted to name her Lucienne (my grandmother's name) Chase but my husband already had his heart set on Chase. Although she's always mistaken for a boy until people see her, I love her name. It's unique & because we didn't choose it due to the trend of naming girls boyish surnames right now, it's meaningful as well! It fits her so well, we call her Chasey. Also, there is a female supreme court justice (in CT where we are from) named Chase! In a time when people are naming their kids "Pilot Inspektor" Chasey is adorable, and meaningful to us!

It's cute and playful I guess, and a little bit different, but it sounds too preppy and yuppy to me, personally. It sounds like the name of a half-wit baby-face teen heartthrob. The linebacker on the varsity football team, maybe. Too cutsey. For some reason, I think it's kind of cool for a girl though -- kind of in the same vein as Bennett, Baily, Madison, etc.

This is a name for little boys and immature frat boys, not for grown-ups. The name sounds corny on anyone past the age of 15, quite frankly, and it's hard to imagine someone very intelligent named Chase. A man with this name might have to struggle for credibility.

Love the name Chase! This is our future son's name. He will join sisters Callista and Sienna. I think Chase is a prefect choice since it's sophisticated and simple. It's strong, but smooth sounding.

I love this name, I named my guinea pig this. Mainly because I was reading a book with a character named Sunchaser in it, and I thought that was really cool. So his real name is Sunchaser, but I call him Chase. ^-^
