The second element of the name is far more likely to derive from _laoch_ 'hero' than _flaith_. _Laoch_ is a common element in names, like Fionnlaoch, 'Finley', or Cruadhlaoch, better known as part of the surname Ó Cruadhlaoch, 'Crowley'.
As well, the first element may be the combining form of _cú_ 'hound', also seen in Conchobhar and Conán.
