This name is gorgeous to be honest! Daffy would be such a cute nickname for a younger girl and Dil for when she grows up, I just love these flowery names for their nickname possibilities and how genuinely literally down to earth pretty they sound!
Dee, Didi, Dee Dee, Dodie, Dolly, Dollie and Fifi could be nicknames.
This doesn't really suit people in my opinion, but I would use Daphne.
Daffodil sounds so daffy. But better than flower names like Chrysanthemum and Heliotrope. I think most flower names are laughable, except for normal ones like Lily, Violet, Daisy and Rose.
Cute! Like it!
So lovable, nicknamed Daffy or Fodill.
The first part of the name puts me off straight away. “Daff” reminds me of the word “daft” which I immediately thought of.
Sounds a bit strange as a name, plus I dislike the potential nickname Daffy.
Daffodil is a very cute name, but in my opinion, suited for a pet rather than a child. Jonquil is a nice alternative.
Daffodil makes me think of someone from Virginia that lives on a farm.
Daffy Duck comes to mind :(
This honestly sounds better on a hedgehog or a puppy than a human.
Daffodil is one flower name that doesn't sound right on a human.
A very beautiful flower, and a pretty name too. I rather like flower names, they are unique and not overused like most names are. Granted there are people who dislike names such as this but their opinions don't matter if this is what you are thinking of naming your daughter.
Cheers!
This is just an ugly name, and I can't imagine the kind of nicknames the girl would get out of it. Daffy? Dill? Or even Dylan?
I'm surprised at the hostility over this trifle of a name! I personally find it gorgeous, a feminine but not too frilly name, a flower name that I actually quite like.
Daffodil (spelled Daphadil) is often used as an elaboration of my own name, Daphne. I would use this gorgeous name to honor a child; and the nicknames, why not just call her by her full, beautiful name? And will Daffy Duck jokes really be so prevalent in the future? Lots of kids my own age have no idea who he is.
This name is sunny, bright, and lovely, just like the flower. It probably would make a better middle name, but I would seriously consider using it.
I love flower names (from Azalea to Zinnia), but I can't look at this one without thinking of Daffy Duck.
Good name for a cat, especially if she is born or adopted in Spring.
Sorry, I don't like this name. I usually love floral names but this just puts me off.
I love this name, and I don't think people should be able to call names hideous. Besides, who says you have to use a nickname, or even a nickname that makes sense? I think Daffodil, nickname Dafne is adorable. I personally love this as a middle name.
A slight improvement on Daphne but still yields the silly Daffy nickname. I don't find it any more ridiculous than Violet or Rose, just far less saturated.
Well, it's an absolutely hideous name. Whether you call the girl Daff, Daffy, Daffo, Dil, or Dilly, all the nicknames are hideous too!
Really gorgeous but I do prefer Jonquille and Asphodel. I feel sorry for people who cannot appreciate floral classics.
I feel sorry for whoever has this name.
I kinda like the name. It'd be cute to be called Dil, but you'd probably end up being called Daffy, and then being compared to Daffy Duck.
