I thought that this was a variant of Devon, not Devin. Surely it would be pronounced the same way as Devon, or even dev-ann? I think it's kind of cute for a girl. Devon seems more masculine.
Unfortunately, I know a girl with this name. I don't understand why every name ending in the -in/-on sound is believed to be acceptable for girls, its not. Devin/Devon/Devan/whatever "creative" spelling people make up is not a girl name. I honestly don't think it's a very mature sounding boy name in the first place, but on girls.. No! And "Devan" looks like the parents couldn't figure out how to spell so they just stuck a d in front if Evan.
My roommate's name is Devan (and we're both females, in case you're wondering). I actually prefer this spelling on women more than the others, and it sounds cool on/with her.
Hey, hey, hey, my name's Devan, and I am a woman. I like the meaning of "poet" better than "little black one," since I'm like, not tan in the slightest.
I loved the name from the moment I saw it in a book of baby names. I named my daughter Devan.
I have always loved the name Devan. It is a strong boys name. I am not too fond of it for a girl. I would either use this spelling since my husband's name is Kevan or the spelling Devin.
