I like it for a boy. A bit longer, and still masculine, but a different spelling to make it unique. I love Dominic but it isn’t long and esteemed enough for my taste.
My name is Dominique and I hate it, but I think it's just cause its my name HAHA. I like the name Dominic better, but Dominic is more masculine. I really like my name next to my brother's, Brooklyn.Dominique and Brooklyn.Anyways 7/10 for my name since the nicknames are slacking :(. BUT no one else at my school has my name so that's cool.
Contrary to popular belief, I find this name completely unisex leaning more towards masculine. It reminds me a lot of Dominic. The meaning is cool and either way the name in general is cool too. I know a male Dominique who goes by “Dom” for short. Apparently it’s more popular for boys in France anyways so I guess it’s not too feminine.
It's so awesome and I love it! It ages super well!
I went to school with a lot of Dominique's. I wouldn't use this name because it's a bit common for me.
It's cool and French.
In my opinion, Dominique is a unisex name. I can definitely see this on girl, and I can see this on a guy probably because my father's name is Dominique Joseph. I see it so much on girls though, which is cool, cause it fits girls.
Dominique is so pretty! I'm considering this name if I ever have a child. This name sounds so pretty, along with Véronique, Angélique, and Monique. Also, in France, Dominique is unisex, along with Claude, Camille, Céleste, etc. However, in the English-speaking world, this name is generally only feminine.
This name would never work well for a male in an English-speaking country. It would have to be "Dominic" to avoid teasing. Dominique on a male would only be acceptable in a francophone country.
This name personally has positive associations for me. I went to high school with a girl named Dominique and she remains the single most stunningly beautiful person I have ever seen in person. I was too shy to ever talk to her, but she seemed like a sweet person also.
Seems to be a genuinely unisex name. I would prefer it for a girl, but it's gorgeous either way.
There is nothing feminine about this name because it sounds very masculine.
I've ALWAYS assumed that Dominique was the feminine version of Dominic. Whoa. But anyways, I grew up with Dominique being a girl's name so I definitely prefer it for that gender. I don't care for Dominique on a male. I much prefer Dominic.
The only Dominique I've ever known was a girl. Anyway, I think this name is girly, maybe it's a little biased but I could only think of a girl having this name. I think Dominic should be the boy alternative for this name because it's just too feminine for a boy.
VERY strong, classy, feminine name. Sounds smart, interesting, mature, and so forth.
Despite the -ique that makes it look like Veronique, I think it's a pretty masculine name. I think it sounds weird on girls, just because the 'Domi' sound is very strong and masculine. Reminds me immediately of 'dominus', 'lord' in Latin.
I like this name for boys because it's masculine but very cute. Goes well with a child and most of the adults too. And the stress on the last syllable makes it absolutely more gorgeous than Dominic!
I live in an English-speaking country and had no idea that this could be a male name until I came on this site. I have only ever heard it used on females. It's rather charming, but not top on my list.
I've only met two Dominiques, both guys. Neither were / are in the slightest bit feminine. Love this name for a boy, find it horrid for a girl.
I love this name! It's so unique and pretty. I see this more on a girl than a boy, but it's a very common for both girls and boys in France. An adorable nickname for Dominique is Domi.
Although I've known boys named Dominique, I think this is strictly a feminine name. And I think it is beautiful, except that I cannot get past that horrible ANTM association. I'm glad I don't watch that show anymore, all it does is ruin pretty names.
The "que" makes it look very feminine, like in Monique or Angelique. I would personally not name a boy with this.
I always thought that this was a girl's name, though I did meet a male Dominique once. I guess it sounds good for either gender, though I find Dominic better for boys.
It is a very nice name on a male, but absolutely hideous on a female.
I agree - this name should be girls only! Boys should stick to Dominic. I think this name flows well, and isn't too common, which is a good thing.
I think Dominique is a feminine name, it should really only be given to girls. (And I'm not just saying that cause it just happens to be my name. Honest!)
Hmmm. Tell that to the entire French speaking world!
I think it is weird for a boy to have this name (although the only Dominique I've met was a boy), but it's a very pretty name for a girl. It's better than names like Monique and Veronique.
I personally do not like this name. I knew a Dominique who I did not like. The name doesn't seem to fit for most people.
I have always thought of this as a girl's name.
