Same pronunciation, but a different origin: I had an Afrikaans colleague whose given names were Anna Dorothea. It is customary, or it used to be, to name children after their grandparent(s), but nicknames are in order. My colleague was known as Doriaan. In Afrikaans, as in Dutch and German, final -e is sounded so the spelling had to be tweaked.
