The name Eamon was given to 131 baby boys born in the US in 2012.
As someone has already stated before me, Irish president De Valera spelled his name as Éamon, not Eamon. Therefore, he should not be mentioned in the entry for Eamon - but rather, in a to-be-created entry for Éamon. [noted -ed]
I'm not overly keen on this name, mostly because of Éamon de Valera (his name should have a fada - forward accent - over the first "e"). He blatantly refused to let women fight with weapons during the Easter Rising.
It's not a bad name, but I still associate it with that one hit wonder idiot with his stupid track F**k It. Good thing no one will remember that guy by 2014. I personally think the name is okay with either pronunciation, and it sounds very Irish, not like a Rasta greeting or any silly stuff like that. Actually, the name is rather out of place elsewhere.
Ay-muhn? or ee-muhn? Ay-muhn sounds like a Rasta greeting, and ee-muhn rhymes with semen and demon. I prefer Armand. Or even the original, Edward.
