I like this name because it means help or stone of help and also because that's my name.
This name is outdated.
I love the name Ebenezer! My friend's nickname as a child was always Ebenezer, and nobody knew why. "Ebby" would be a great nickname!
I love this name.
A beautiful name. Ebenezer Scrooge represents the pivotal story of redemption and grace.
It doesn't really matter how Ebenezer Scrooge ended up at the end of the novel, when considering his name. When I hear Ebenezer, all I can think of is the character from the book. "A Christmas Carol" has become so iconic that there really is no other association. And unless the novel were to fall out of popularity/off the canon--*highly* unlikely, and it would sadden me if this happened--this name just isn't practical on a child.
I have a strange liking to this name. And everyone forgets that he turns out good in "A Christmas Carol." A good nickname is Ben.
It sounds snobbish, pretentious, and outdated, if it didn't immediately bring to mind Ebenezer Scrooge. It's just plain ugly.
I can't hear this name without instantly thinking of "A Christmas Carol".
My professor's name and his son's name is Ebenezer, but everyone calls him Eb. I believe he is Brazilian. His son is Nezer (tries not to laugh).
This sounds like the name of an old man, and the sound is a bit comical as well. Besides, the name reminds me of a very annoying track from the 90s by The Shamen, titled Ebenezer Goode, I think.
*gag* Just picture a small child. A cute little five-year-old. Then picture him waving and saying, "Hi, I'm Ebenezer!" And try not to laugh.
