I have to admit that I am quite proud of my name and its Norse heritage. The name is not that common anymore in Norway, but many old viking-names have had a renaissance in recent years in the Scandinavian countries.
In Norway, Einar is pronounced as "EI-nahr".
I just named my newborn son Einar. We live in Canada and pronounce it Eye-Nar. It has had good responses from people and so far, only one of the nurses recognized that it was Scandinavian as she was of Swedish and Norwegian descent. I am half Danish and we wanted a Scandinavian name. We named him this because we like the meaning, and my favourite musician’s name is Einar Selvik of Wardruna.
