In the Bible (specifically Philippians 2:25 and 4:18), Paul mentions a man whose name is translated Epaphroditus, which seems to be a variation of this name. Paul calls Epaphroditus "my brother and fellow worker and fellow soldier" and tells the people at the Philippian church to "Receive him then in the Lord with all joy, and hold men like him in high regard" (NASB).
