The meaning of the word "Eyal" in Hebrew is - strength or potency. The word "Ayal" means deer or ram.

This spelling, of the name, with the E pronounced like in "bear", would actually mean "strength, power". The Hebrew spelling that is included in this entry would be pronounced "Ayal" and would, indeed, translate as deer or ram. Unsurprisingly, it is sometimes used to mean "battering ram". [noted -ed]
