I love this name, but I prefer it spelled Gitl. I want to thank Felie, because she told me this spelling of it! ❤❤❤❤.
It is so sweet, cheerful and carefree. I like it!Obviously I would not use it because as far as I know I have not a Jewish ancestry but who knows. However, Gittel is sweet and positive.
No offense, but this name makes me think of a crabby old Jewish woman.
I am named after a grandmother, and for many years did not like my name Gittel. Until, after the age of forty, somebody said to me "you live up to the meaning of your name". Since that day I really like my name. Since then I taught the children in my kindergarten class the meaning and importance of their names.
