Glenys

I hate pronouncing my name, people usually ask me to repeat it. My name is spelt Glenys and I find it a bit of a tongue tie for me. I have know idea why my parents called me Glenys. I never answer to Glen. I was brought up that my name was never to be shortened and it has stuck with me. I totally love it when people call me Gladys and I will not answer to it, even though I know they are talking to me.

I prefer Glennis.

I am a Glenys named after a complete stranger whom my parents thought was beautiful, working in the same manufacturing plant.
Reading in various name books I was lead to believe it meant of 'the glen'.
The other book said 'good and pure'. I guess it can not be translated into many languages very easily so therefore the name has died out in popularity
Personally, I have grown to love the name there are a few Glenys', the other popular way to spell it is Glennis.

My grandmother spells it Glennes.
