I have a female ancestor named Gordon, born 1863 in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. In genealogy databases I found many other verifiable female Gordons, most also from Aberdeenshire, and all from Scotland or of Scottish ancestry. It seems to have died off in about the 1910s.
