I have a female ancestor named Gordon, born 1863 in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. In genealogy databases I found many other verifiable female Gordons, most also from Aberdeenshire, and all from Scotland or of Scottish ancestry. It seems to have died off in about the 1910s.I wonder if it is also from the surname, or perhaps a Scots variant of some other name.
