Are we sure this is a Hawaiian name, especially a traditional one? Because, uh, Hawai'i doesn't have snow.
... Alternatively, it could just be the wrong meaning.

Actually, EkiAku, Hawaii does have snow; Mauna Kea, a volcano, has a seasonal snow cap.
