"this name is bad because of Jeffrey Epstein/ Jeffrey Dahmer" bro what about names like Ted or any criminal names? Jeffrey is a normal name.
People, just because a name had some crappy bearers doesn’t mean it’s unusable. Every name has bearers that are good and bearers that aren’t so good. I happen to have a very good association with this name.
The "ff" sound followed by the "ree" makes this name sound really comical to me. Not good vibes.
I hate this name because of that pervert Jeffrey Edward Epstein!
This name has a lot of crappy associations. Yikes.
I love the name Jeffrey so much! But I think that it has some problems. It should be a girl name only and it should be spelled Jevvree.
This name is SO nerdy.
I don’t like it, it literally sounds like a Karen.
I personally love the name cause that is my full birth name that was given to me by my parents, especially, by my beloved mother who passed away over eight years ago. It was extremely popular back in 1961 when I was born.
I don't really like this name. It also makes me think of Jeffrey Dahmer and Jeffree Star. And the "my name is Jeff" memes.
This looks like a misspelling.
One of the unluckiest names ever.
Sounds a bit wimpy and makes me think of a little kid.
I guess it's a nice name depending on how you look at it. The name Jeffrey has a poor reputation only because of people like Jeffrey Dahmer and Jeffrey Epstein. However, I don't think that should tarnish its reputation. If you wanted to name your son this, I think the middle name Nigel would work well with it.
Not a bad name per-se, but it seems to have a lot of bad associations. The infamous serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, The sex offender and rapist Jeffrey Epstein, and that one youtuber Jeffree Star who I can't stand for reasons I don't want to say. Don't have anything wrong with the name itself, just the associations it has.
I've always liked the name Jeffrey. It is a name that holds up over time. I don't associate the name with bad characters that had the name in the past because there is too much goodness about this name. Don't let someone who didn't live up to the name ruin it for everyone else. Jeffrey is a regal name.
I wasn't always glad to be named "Jeffrey," considering it a bit over-refined. I preferred to be called Jeff. When I learned that Jeffrey (Geoffrey, Gottfried) means "the peace of God," that put a different spin on it! Having the peace of God sounds like a pretty good deal to me!
My name is Jeff. But some of my family use the full name of Jeffrey. I see nothing wrong with my name. There are martial artists with this name (Jeff Speakman and Jeffrey Meek). There was also Jeffrey Hunter (Star Trek T.O.S. original captain). I have seen my name also spelled as Jeph. Yes it is unfortunate that a killer had my name, but he could have also been named Curtis or Henry for example. Regardless of his name, I think he would have still been evil.
I want to like this name and love the nickname Jeff, but Jeffrey Dahmer is too strong an association for me to ever really consider this name. It also kinda seems like a name a white frat boy rapist who wears boat shoes and brags about his daddy’s lawfirm would have. Final nail in the coffin: Jeffy from The Ringer, played by Johnny Knoxville.
As a Jeffrey myself, I absolutely love this name. Something about it just makes it stand out. It's a very unique name to me, but I am really biased here, so take my opinion with a grain of salt if you'd like.
I am a Jeffrey, born in 1967 when it was the 11th most popular male name in the US. My mother named me after Paul Peterson's character, Jeff Stone, from one of her favorite TV shows at the time, The Donna Reed Show. I've pretty much always gone by Jeff when meeting people, although I use Jeffrey for "formal" correspondence and social media. I've personally not been a big fan of the name throughout my life, but as time goes on and it becomes less frequently heard it has become more agreeable with me. Other famous Jeff's/Jeffrey's not mentioned:
Jeff Dunham - Comedian
Jeffrey Dean Morgan - Actor
Jeff Goldblum - Actor
Jeffrey Tambour - Actor
Jeff Daniels - Actor
Jeffrey Wright - Actor
Jeffrey Osbourne - Singer
Jeff Foxworthy - Comedian
Jeff Gordon - NASCAR Driver.
My dad and great uncle are both named Jeffrey, so it's a family name. I'll probably end up giving my son the middle name Jeffrey.
My name is Jeffrey and I have to say I love the name, although I prefer to be called Jeffy, Heffe or Jake.
I like this name very much. To me it doesn't sound pompous at all, it's classy, strong and masculine. A great name for a man! I also like the nickname "Jeff" as well.
Jeffrey is a cute name! =)
This is my friends name, and he hates it. I think it's a nice name, I don't know why people would dislike it.
Sounds kind of wimpy to me, but maybe that's because the only person I know with this name is about 4,'10.
All the Jeffreys I've known (quite a few) were extremely nice, slightly dorky guys. I think that's an okay fate to saddle your son with.
I kind of see Jeffrey as a geeky name. I don't why, but I just can't help it.
My younger brother's name is Jeffrey, and I always call him Jeffrey, because Jeff, I think, sounds too much like Jiff. I really love this spelling, but I always get it wrong. I usually spell my brothers name as Jeffery, but I don't mean too. :\
I don't really care for the name Jeff or Jeffrey. I think it sounds either, snooty, very homosexual, or childish. Sorry guys. I don't find it attractive. I don't have anything against homosexuals but certain names bring up certain impressions and that is my impression of the name. Worse yet are other spellings such as Geoffrey. This makes no sense to me.
This is my favorite spelling of the name. Jeffery looks like it should be pronounced with an extra syllable, and Geoffrey looks pretentious, outdated, and stuck up. This is pretty much one of those extremely safe names that you can't go wrong with, and it suits all sorts of guys. Of course, the name isn't very interesting, as it's overused.
I agree with the "overused" part, but I disagree with your comments of Geoffrey being pretentious and stuck up. It's the British spelling; there's nothing wrong with it! Next time, do the Brits a favor and don't insult the way they spell their names!
My name is Jeffrey, and while I still have to use it for official purposes like my passport and medical notes, I don't really like it as I think it sounds raher stuffy and pompous, particularly here in the UK. I much prefer to be known as Jeff which sounds much younger, cooler and Frankly sexier, being in good company with men like Jeff Bridges, Jeff Loomis, Jeff Hardy. In some ways I wish I'd been born an American, as Jeff rather than Jeffrey is much more prevalent in the US.
This is one of my favorite boy's names, one of my closest friends is a Jeffrey but he prefers just Jeff. Yet, I don't think I'd ever name someone this name (a kid) because I don't think I'd like it very much if it weren't for Jeff.
I really wish I had named one of my 5 boys Jeffrey. It is an awesome name.
I love this name and haven't heard too many people in my generation with it. All of the Jeff's or Jeffrey's that I have ever met have always been so nice and down to earth. I would name my son Jeffrey!
Jeffrey is such a nice name. I am surprised it has died out of usage so much. The meaning, peace of God, is so nice. This is a great name to grow up with too.
I think JEFFREY is a great name for kids because it works well as an adult, too. I've got to say, some parents don't really give thought to what their child will be like when he/she is an adult.
