I love the great American musician Jimi Hendrix, but I can't say the same thing about his first name. Like all the nicknames for James, I find it no good for my ears!

As someone who has borne this as his first name for his entire life, please allow me to say this.
My name is very unique. I like it. Yes, I was named after Jimi Hendrix, a very famous guitarist and songwriter from about 50 years ago. He was one of my father's idols, and my father comes from a long line of men named James. When I was a child, I hated my name, but now I have come to love it because of its origins. It gets misspelled frequently (and trust me, some of the misspellings have made me both furious and hopeless at the same time), but I wouldn't have it any other way.

This is a rather youthful spelling of an annoying and hickish nickname, but at least this spelling reminds me of Jimi Hendrix rather than some loud-mouthed, fat, mean guys from the US. This name has also been used in Finland, pronounced ''YI-mi'', and it's an extremely immature and silly name in Finnish.

Really neat way to spell Jimi. Only person I can think of who spells it that way is Jimi Hendrix, and anyone else was probably inspired by him.
