I'm named Kelsey I'm 26, and I agree with most of the people here about the name being misinterpreted as Kelly or Chelsea. I hate when people say my name wrong and it happens more than you think. I actually used to live next to a male named Kelsey. He was younger than me at the time. So yes, there are still males named Kelsey, even though it's not that popular for a male name anymore. Maybe in other countries, but not in the US. I personally like my name, but if I could choose a different one, I probably would.

I love the names Kendra and Kelsey which now seems like a good idea for twin girls.

I'm Kelsee, and I'm so glad I was named it. I didn't like my name at one point because I envied others who went to places and could find their names on key chains, etc. I could never get one and I was annoyed they said Kelsey. I never bought one that said Kelsey because I felt it wasn't who I was. I like being called Kels. It's sweet and to the point. I only ask my friends to call me Kels. It seems more endearing than saying the full name. The two e's at the end of my name is a thing passed down in my family. All female names end in ee. Randee, Juliee, Judee, Kelsee, etc. I feel it makes me unique to continue that and if I ever had a girl, would continue that tradition on.

My name is Kelsie, and I like it. I’m 21, growing up more in high school I met about 3 girls with the same name (All spelled differently! Kelsey, Kelsi, Kelsie). I don’t think it’s too common especially compared to names like Emily, Jessica etc. I love when people call me Kels, not sure why some hate it! Overall I’m glad my mom named me Kelsie, she said she saw a physic and the letter combination “sey” is bad luck so that’s why it’s spelled the way it is. My mom also said she pictured a Tom boy when she named me and she was correct!

I find it interesting that most Kelseys don't like when people shorten their name to Kels. Personally, only my friends call me Kels and I really like it.
My parents told me that regardless of my gender I was going to be named Kelsey. I like that it's a unisex name and while it is somewhat popular (I've met 4 other Kelsey's in my life and work with one), it's not a name like Mary, Emily, etc that is super overused. The only things I find frustrating about this name is that I get called Chelsey all the time and constantly have to correct people on the spelling.

I prefer Chelsea. This spelling is a little bland. I also don't like Kelcey because it looks weird and like it's pronounced KELL-kee.

My name is Kelsey. I'm 21 now. In elementary school there were 3 Kelsey's in my class, (well one of them was named Kelsea). I have known well over 10 Kelseys in my short life and in high school, there was even another Kelsey Jones. (we were even on the same sports team, along with another Kelsey, my nickname became Kelsey Sophomore). My point being is that in my experience it's an incredibly popular name and I have had Kelsey's with me at work places too. I think the most annoying thing is that everyone calls me Chelsea at first. I hated that my name didn't really have any nicknames growing up. I still don't really like my name. I would have liked something more unique and artistic. Although I don't see my name as "infantile" I don't think it's very pretty or special. My middle name is the same way, Megan. Also, my sister's name was Destiny, so her name was gorgeous and my name was plain Jane.

My name is Kelci. I've only met one other person with that spelling.

When I was little, I absolutely despised my name. Everyone was named Kelsey! As I grew up, I grew to like my name, often subconsciously picking out names for characters in stories I had to write that had similar sounds, like Elsa, Belle, Isla, Ailsa, and Everly. I have heard both meanings of the name both of which I seem to fit. Although I still sigh when people have to specify which Kelsey they are talking to, I quite enjoy this name.

I'm 18 and my names Kellsey, there's a couple of Kelsey's/kelseas around my town, but it's still not a very popular name in my opinion. In fact I believe that the name has died down a lot in the last decade at least. People call me Kells and I like it. My parents wanted me to be named Kelsey, but since my brother was 11 when I was born, and had two L's in his name he named me Kellsey with two l's. So that's kind of special to me.

I really like this name for a boy. I don't care how common this cutesy, trendy 1990s name was for girls; it would sound at least ten times more interesting and classier on a boy.

My name is Kelsey and, personally, I love the name. Sure it's more popular and easily confused with Chelsea, but it's no Emily or Mikaela. I love being called Kels, but I've actually noticed it's hard to make nicknames other than Kels which could be a good thing with kids these days. I also believe the name will transfer well into my adult years. And I like the spelling as is, every other attempt I've seen seems either way too girly or juvenile (Kelsi, Kelsie, or Kelsy). Some even seem to lose the identity that goes along with Kelsey (Kelsea like Chelsea or Kelcie like Macie). As it is spelled I find it more neutral and strong. Don't hesitate to name your daughter or son Kelsey. It's a wonderful name!

Generally, I detest being named Kelsey. It's dated to the 90s, and I have always been surrounded by other Kelseys at school. I dislike my own name so much, that I quite frequently contemplate going by Elsie or Elsa instead.

My parents named me Kelsey. My mother just liked the name, she thought it was pretty. I love my name, it suits me very well. I seriously hate when people mistake my name for Chelsea. I don't care if you call me Kel or Kels just don't call me Chelsea, it's a completely different name. I've met so many Kelsey's living in Tennessee, I didn't think so many people had the name. I thought I was "one of a kind." I have only come across one meaning and origin for my name, "island of ships" or "victory of ships". I believe, the Celtic/Gaelic meaning. I love my name, much better than the alternative I could have gotten "Betsy." Be proud of your name if you're a fellow KELSEY.

Cute but I really cannot see it on an old woman. But yet again, that's what they probably thought of Betty, Nancy, and Dorothy. So overall I think it's a cute name for a girl.

Also, are there any records of males being named Kelsey? The only male I've ever heard of is Kelsey Grammar, and Kelsey even isn't his first name. It's his middle, which possibly could have been used to honor someone or a family name.

Up to this point in time I have found being named Kelsey as alright and not too common until I entered high school. Now I am indirectly aware of around three other people with the name Kelsey close to my age. While the name is still not overly common, there is one girl named Kelsie that I know in my grade, and it is kind of annoying when classmates say my name and I realize that they are not talking about or to me.

I love the song by Metro Station! "Whoa ohhh Kelsey". Same as the above poster, because of the song I like the name now; before I dismissed it as a trendy surname-as-first-name. I still see it that way, but I also see the charm in it. Kelsey has softness to it, a sweet, fragile quality. Kelsey is my oldest daughter's name. She is 17 now, and I had not heard the name when we chose it. Much to our surprise, it soon became way too popular. Unfortunately, she doesn't really like her name. Mainly because it is too common now, and because people accidentally call her Chelsea and Kelly.

I believe the word Kelsey has a much more honored meaning. Even if it is named after a ship victory, I feel in my heart that it means much more. I am just finding out that Kelsey is such a popular name. I only know one, but all of my friends know like four. My daughter is named Kelsi and she was named after a guy I grew up with who was named Kelsey. I like the warrior meaning. My daughter fits that description to a T!

My father will be glad to know it is listed as a masculine name and not just a feminine. He tends to 'forget' that one of his initials is a K because he feels uncomfortable with this as his second middle name. I wouldn't use this name for a boy in the modern times where it is comsidered a feminine name.

Kelsey is a beautiful name. I love it. However, it is getting way way WAY too popular for my taste. Something else I don't quite like is that people always shorten my name to Kels, which I detest. Those who know me (and wish to live, lol) either call me by my proper name, or they call me Kae. One thing I have noticed is that most people who are named Kelsey had parents who got their inspiration from the tv show L.A. Law. Overall, I love my name. It's still unique and it has a playful yet elegant quality to it.
