לִי is among my top favourite names. Some two-letter names work well, even as given names but this one doesn't have the same feel when transliterated. It works well when written in the Hebrew alphabet because the script and meaning of the word stay intact, retaining its character. Transliterated as Li, its appeal gets lost in translation. Yet when spelled as Lee, Leigh or Leagh (unisex); Lea, Lie, Leie (feminine), all pronounced the same (according to English standardised orthography and/or origin of the name), it retains its character, without having to lose the intent of the meaning that may have provoked it. I think Li works well though when used as a double name.
