Mór is Irish for "big" and is used for the father when naming a son after someone. For example, John McCarthy Sr. Would be Seán Mór Mac Carthaigh. I think it can be used for other male namesakes with the same surname, as well. Anyone with more knowledge of Irish naming, feel free to correct me.
