I have an ancestor with this name from the early 1700's. Nahum Smith. I thought since his father was John Smith they may have been looking for a name that was more unusual. We have many generations of protestant ministers in our family so there is the biblical connection as well.
I have never met anyone named Nahum. I don't imagine a lot of people with the name Nahum since the name is rare among people where I'm from. I have heard a lot of ways of how to say the name, which is quite funny to me since it doesn't sound as close to how people say mine.
Nay-im.
I love the name Nahum and know only one person named it. He is a very nice person, everyone calls him Nummsis, we pronounce his name nay-hum.
